ABC Laser Engraving – Design & Artwork Policy

This Design & Artwork Policy applies to all orders submitted to ABC Laser Engraving, LLC, doing business as ABC Laser Engraving, including customer-supplied artwork and designs.

Laser engraving is a precision marking process that operates differently from printing. It does not print color or interpret images the way a laser printer does. Engraving relies on contrast and material reaction, not ink or color separation. For best results, artwork must meet proper technical standards.

1. Artwork Requirements

For optimal engraving quality, artwork must be:

  • High resolution (300 DPI or higher)
  • Black and white or high-contrast grayscale
  • Clean line art, vector artwork, clipart, or solid shapes
  • Free of heavy gradients, shadows, color blending, or low-resolution pixelation

Laser engraving systems do not detect or separate colors. Color artwork, gradients, and blended images will not engrave as they appear on screen. If a low-resolution image is submitted, the engraving result will reflect that same quality.

Bottom line: Black and white, high-contrast, clean artwork produces the best engraving results.

2. Accepted File Types

We accept the following file formats: DWG, DXF, CDR (CorelDRAW), PSD (Photoshop), EPS, AI, PDF, BMP, JPG/JPEG, PNG, TIFF, SVG, PLT.

Vector-based formats (AI, EPS, SVG, DXF, PLT, CDR) are strongly preferred for maximum engraving precision and scalability.

3. If You Are Unsure About Your File

If you are unsure whether your design is suitable for engraving:

  • We strongly encourage you to email your artwork for review before placing your order.
  • Our team can confirm compatibility and provide guidance.

Submitting artwork for review prior to ordering helps avoid production delays and engraving issues.

4. Design & Editing Services

If your artwork requires cleanup, vector conversion, resizing, layout adjustment, or preparation for engraving, we offer professional design and editing services.

Design services are billed at current market rates and vary depending on:

  • Complexity of artwork
  • Time required for conversion or recreation
  • File condition and resolution

A quote will be provided before design work begins.

5. Proofs & Customer Responsibility

Unless a proof is explicitly requested and provided:

  • We may engrave artwork exactly as submitted.
  • Customers are responsible for verifying spelling, layout, resolution, and file quality.

If a digital proof is provided and approved, approval confirms all design elements are correct and final.

6. Intellectual Property

By submitting artwork, you confirm that you have the legal rights or authorization to use the design.

ABC Laser Engraving is not responsible for copyright or trademark violations resulting from customer-submitted files.

7. Engraving Outcome Disclaimer

Engraving results will reflect:

  • The quality of the submitted file
  • The material’s natural characteristics
  • The technical limitations of laser engraving technology

We are not liable for outcomes caused by low-resolution images, color-based artwork, improper formatting, or customer-submitted design limitations.
